Flax is a blue flowering crop, grown on the Praires of Canada for oil rich seeds. The seeds of flax are thin, smooth, flat and range in color from light to reddish brown.

One color of flax seed is not nutritionally better then another. Both brown and golden falx seeds have plenty of protein, dietary fibre, and ALA (Alpha-linolenic acid). While some people prefer yellow-colored seed in their cooking, brown flax seeds add the same nutrition to the diet as do golden ones.

There is no Canadian GMO flax sold or traded in the commercial domestic and export markets.
